I'm Hunter Cates, a photographer and videographer currently based in Berkeley, California.

Originally born in Key West Florida, I’m a military kid that ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area at the age of 12. The incredible variety of culture, beautiful communities and amazing views across the bay inspired me to create visual art that I hope to be equally as vibrant and colorful.

Photography quickly became a medium through which I could capture the vibrancy and colors that surrounded me. As I honed my skills, I naturally gravitated toward cinematography, directing, and the art of story telling across various mediums. I find immense joy in weaving narratives that evoke genuine emotions and engage viewers.

In addition to my work behind the lens, I've had the opportunity to contribute to the local community through the production, curation, and creative direction of live events. It's the people and the connections we make that truly inspire me and drive my creative process.
